Partners and sponsorship dollars are needed for the following:
- * Kick-off reception: at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. A warm welcome reception will pay tribute to Vietnam-era veterans. The evening will feature the U.S. Air Force Band of Flight, special exhibits and activities, a military recognition ceremony with Gen. Ed Mechenbeier (POW at Hanoi Hilton) and a sumptuous spread of “heavy” appetizers and beverages. Estimated cost for this event is $30,000
- * Liberty Film Festival: Series of films offered at various venues around the Miami Valley area honoring all veterans. Estimated cost for this event is $5,000
- * Community Covenant Signing: The Covenant Signing at the VA Dayton campus signifies the Miami Valley’s commitment to our military and veterans. Estimated cost for this event is $7,000
- * Patriotic Welcome Home Parade & Lunch: The City of Fairborn, well known for its FABULOUS parades, has stepped up to plan and execute the Operation Welcome Home parade. Few if any Vietnam-era veterans have ever experienced a welcome home parade in their honor. This parade will certainly show these veterans their service to our nation MATTERED! Following the parade, the Fairborn American Legion will host a lunch in their honor. Estimated cost for this event is $9,000.

- * Concert: REO Speedwagon band has committed to recognize our Vietnam-era veterans during a concert in conjunction with Operation Welcome Home celebration. Because of the level of talent provided by this band - free tickets for this event cannot be offered. Support to offer reduced price tickets to our veterans is requested. Just a $10 discount per ticket would be quite meaningful for our attendees.
- * Amateur Boxing Match: The young Army and Marine recruits want to send a message to the Vietnam veterans – Tonight We’re Fighting for You! Here’s change to help promote young boxers and give them a chance for a future and offer a fun, entertaining evening to our veterans. Estimated cost for this event is $5,000.
- * Worship Service: Area religious leaders and military chaplains have stepped forward to offer their services and venues to celebrate the service given by the Vietnam-era veterans. Area youth groups are happy to provide labor to serve the veterans breakfast following the service. Estimated cost for this event is $2,000.
- * Transportation: Because venues for the various events are scattered throughout the Miami Valley area, (ranging from several miles to 20 miles) transportation will be an important component for the attendees. Estimated cost for transportation is $8,000.
- * Marketing and Event P/R: The event will be for naught if veterans do not know about the celebration. Concentrated media efforts need to occur in print, radio, TV, web and mobile. Current information confirms, veterans from as far away as California, New York, Cleveland and Ft. Knox plan to travel to the Miami Valley area to take part in the celebration. Efforts to communicate with veterans across the USA need to continue. Additionally local area Chambers of Commerce must be encouraged to communicate with their members and ask them to: 1) put a message on all signage saying “Thank You for Your Service” and “Welcome Home” 2) veterans at the celebration will wear identifying lanyards – businesses should offer these attendees something special (i.e. a discount on their food purchase, free cup of coffee, free piece of pie, etc.). Estimated cost for marketing and P/R is $10,000.
Please help make this event truly meaningful for the Vietnam veterans and for the Miami Valley residents who reach out to them. Your partnership dollars are tax deductible through an IRS 501(c)3. This is a FABULOUS opportunity to spotlight your business to a demographic group with the highest level of disposable income, and more importantly, to tell our veterans that you honor their service and sacrifice.
