Tara Dixon Engel, Vice President of
As National Co-chairman for Operation Welcome Home and Vice President of the American Veterans Institute, Tara Dixon Engel dedicates much of her time to planning veterans celebrations, working with elderly and disabled vets seeking VA benefits, developing educational curriculum that teaches young people about the contributions of veterans, raising money and awareness for veterans causes and facilities, and delivering speeches and presentations on veterans issues and related topics.

While attending a business conference for her job, Cindy Antrican, Editor of the AAA Miami Valley Home & Away magazine learned about a regional Operation Welcome Home celebration that would occur in Fort Knox Kentucky. Reading through the information in the press kit about an event that would honor and recognize the service of Vietnam-era veterans sadly she realized these GIs had never been properly thanked or given any kind of meaningful welcome home.
